The High Street Stompers Dixieland Band was formed in 1987 when all the original members were Professors in the School of Music at The Ohio State University. The band members then were Tom Battenberg, trumpet; Jim Pyne, clarinet; Gary Carney, trombone; Paul Robinson, banjo and vocals; Bob LeBlanc, tuba; and Jim Curlis, drums. Paul Robinson is the only remaining member of the original band.

The other current members of the band are Milo Mannino, trumpet, who joined the Stompers in 2018; Michael Cox, clarinet, (2006); Vaughn Wiester, trombone, (2003); Sid Townsend, tuba and string bass, (2000); and Jim Rupp, drums, (2011).

Paul Robinson PAUL ROBINSON (banjo and vocals) is professor emeritus of double bass in the school of Music at The Ohio State University. He retired from the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus after 30 years and is a former member of the Opera House Orchestra at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. He has performed for NBC Television specials with such guests as Bob Hope, Sammy Davis, Jr., Lauren Bacall, Jack Benny, and Lucille Ball. He has conducted a variety of workshops and delivered presentations in Canada, England, Scotland, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Brazil. Stompers band member since 1987.

Vaugh Wiester VAUGHN WIESTER (trombone) is a former instructor of Jazz Studies at Capital University. A former Navy trombonist, he has been a member of the Dave Workman Blues Band, the Columbus Jazz Orchestra and toured for two years with the Woody Herman Band. Currently he is active as a free-lance trombonist and arranger and performs with numerous organizations in the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus areas. Vaughn is founder and leader of the 21-piece Famous Jazz Orchestra. Stompers band member since 2003.

Michael Cox MICHAEL COX (clarinet) is Professor of Saxophone in the Capital Conservatory of Music, where he has taught jazz styles and analysis, improvisation, music theory, and coached jazz and chamber music groups since 1990. Michael performs with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, Brasileira, Capital's faculty jazz group Spectrum, and the eclectic quartet Magically Delicious. Stompers band member since 2006.

Sid Townsend SID TOWNSEND (tuba) taught instrumental music in the Westerville School System for twenty-five years. He is a graduate of the OSU School of Music and is presently on the adjunct faculty at Capital University. He is a member of the Columbus Broadway Across America pit orchestra and continues to play the tuba, stringed bass, and electric bass with Columbus' finest jazz and classical musicians. Stompers band member since 2010.

Jim Rupp JIM RUPP (drums) has done extensive touring with the bands of Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson, and Glenn Miller and is the drummer on three Woody Herman CDs. Jim spent eight years with the Grammy Award-winning jazz singer Diane Schuur and has also performed with artists such as Ray Charles, Tony Bennett, Joe Lavanao, Hank Marr, Buddy DeFranco, Joe Williams, Rosemary Clooney,and Natalie Cole. Jim is the President of Columbus Percussion, Inc. and currently teaches at OSU. Stompers band member since 2011.

Milo Mannino MILO MANNINO (trumpet) born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, has been playing his trumpet in the Big Easy and Columbus, Ohio, for the past 45 years. He and his family relocated to Ohio in 2006 to manage a district of local music stores. Leading his own groups, including the North Columbus Big Band, formerly the Crescent River Big Band, Milo has performed and worked with great artists like Smokey Robinson, Four Tops, Anne Murray, Connie Francis, Bobby Vinton, Al Martino, Regis Philbin, Milton Berle, Don Rickles, Joan Rivers, Shirley Jones and Keely Smith (wife & sidekick to Louis Prima). Stompers band member since 2019.
